Personal Attributes Policy

A rule prohibiting ad copy or targeting that implies knowledge of a person's private characteristics, like health or finances.

The Personal Attributes policy prohibits ads from directly or indirectly asserting or implying something about the viewer's personal characteristics — such as suggesting someone has a specific medical condition, financial hardship, or relationship status — even if the underlying targeting or product is otherwise compliant. Copy that says 'struggling with debt?' pointed at a financial audience is a textbook violation.

This policy is a frequent source of disapprovals in nutra and lead-gen creative, where hooks often try to speak directly to a viewer's pain point; rewriting copy to describe the product's benefit rather than assume something about the viewer's condition is the standard workaround compliant creative teams use.
