Meta has quietly released Style Sketch, an AI fashion app that suggests outfits from clothes a user already owns, in Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. It can build a virtual wardrobe from photos people have posted on Instagram. It arrived alongside a kids' AI pet app, Waddle World, as Meta ships more small AI apps to test markets.
What Style Sketch does
Style Sketch was first spotted by social media consultant Matt Navarra on October 28, and TechCrunch reported it a day later. It is available on iOS and Android in Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. Meta did not comment to TechCrunch and has not said whether it will expand the app.
- Builds outfit combinations from the user's own wardrobe, matched to their style
- Suggests looks built around a single chosen item
- Virtual try-on on a model matched to the user's body shape and skin tone
- Trip planning: day-by-day outfits based on destination, activities and weather
- Wardrobe input from Instagram posts, photos, short videos or the camera roll
Part of a wider app push
Social Media Today reports Meta also launched Waddle World, a virtual pet app for kids, currently only in the Philippines. Earlier experiments include Pocket for minigames and Vibes, a feed of AI-generated video. Mark Zuckerberg has said AI should make it much easier for Meta to ship new apps and that its recommendation systems can put them in front of interested users.
Neither report mentions shopping links, affiliate features or ads inside Style Sketch. For now it is a consumer test, not an ad surface.
Why fashion advertisers should watch it
An app that knows what is already in someone's closet, their body type and their upcoming trips is the kind of signal fashion retailers would value. Meta has not said it will use Style Sketch data for ads, and you should not assume it will. But the choice of Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore as test markets puts Southeast Asian apparel shoppers at the front of Meta's AI fashion experiments.
If a shopping or try-on layer arrives later, brands with clean product catalogs and good flat-lay and on-model imagery will be the easiest to plug in. That is worth doing anyway for Advantage+ catalog ads.
What it means for you
- Style Sketch is a limited test in Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore with no ads today.
- It reads Instagram posts to build a wardrobe, which shows Meta's interest in fashion signals.
- Keep apparel catalogs complete, with clear on-model and flat-lay images.
- Treat it as a watch item, not a channel: Meta may drop or expand it without notice.
