Meta has launched Muse, its personal AI agent, in Singapore, its first market in Southeast Asia after the US and Canada. The launch comes with in-app connectors to local commerce and travel platforms including Shopee, Lazada, Grab, Agoda and Singapore Airlines. Given that Meta says shopping is Muse's top use case, this is an early look at how AI agents could sit between shoppers and the brands advertising to them in the region.
What launched
Meta announced on October 27 that Muse is available in Singapore on iOS, Android and the web at muse.ai, with AI glasses support promised later. Meta describes it as an agent that does tasks rather than just answering questions: tracking things, handling projects and turning goals into plans.
Users can connect Gmail, Google Calendar and Instagram, so Muse can work with email, schedules and content they have saved. Meta says connector features will roll out progressively. Muse is free for everyday use, with paid subscription plans for heavier users.
The commerce partners
The launch partners are Shopee, Grab, Singapore Airlines, Agoda, ShopBack, Klook, Trip.com and Lazada. Meta's examples include comparing prices before buying on Shopee or Lazada, ordering groceries and booking restaurants through Grab, planning travel, and earning cashback through ShopBack.
Meta says Muse keeps passwords and payment methods out of the agent's view and asks before sensitive actions such as making a purchase.
- Shopping: Shopee, Lazada, ShopBack
- Food and groceries: GrabMart, Grab Dine Out
- Travel and tickets: Singapore Airlines, Agoda, Klook, Trip.com
Why advertisers should care
On its Q3 earnings call, Meta said more than a quarter of Muse users ask for help with deals and purchases, with an average purchase above $200. Social Media Today reports the app passed 10 million downloads in its first month.
Meta has not announced ads inside Muse, and nothing in the Singapore launch mentions ad products. But when an agent researches products and compares prices for a shopper, the marketplace listing, price and reviews do more of the selling, and the ad click may happen later or not at all. Sellers on Shopee and Lazada who also run Meta ads in the region should keep their listings, pricing and product data as clean as their creatives.
What it means for you
- Muse is live in Singapore; it is Meta's first Southeast Asia launch of the agent.
- No ad format exists in Muse yet, so this is about organic discovery, not a new placement.
- Make sure marketplace listings, prices and product data are accurate and complete.
- Track whether Singapore traffic from Shopee or Lazada shifts as Muse usage grows.
