Meta Q3 2026: Ad Revenue Hits $63B, Price per Ad Up 14%

By the Power Ads operators22 Oct 20262 min read

Meta reported third-quarter 2026 results on October 21: total revenue of $64.60 billion and advertising revenue of $63.06 billion, both up 26% year over year. Growth came from pricing as much as volume, with ad impressions up 10% and the average price per ad up 14%. Guidance for Q4 points to an expensive holiday auction.

The headline numbers

Meta's Family of Apps reached 3.64 billion daily active people on average in September, up 3% from a year earlier. Costs and expenses jumped 68% to $51.61 billion, but that figure includes a $9.89 billion legal charge tied to the teen social media litigation settlement Meta agreed with state attorneys general in August. Operating margin fell to 20% from 40%.

Capital expenditures, including finance lease payments, were $34.91 billion in the quarter. Headcount was 66,775 at the end of September, down 15% year over year. Mark Zuckerberg said in the release that "the core business is strong."

  • Advertising revenue: $63.06B (+26%)
  • Ad impressions: +10% year over year
  • Average price per ad: +14% year over year
  • Daily active people: 3.64B (+3%)

Price is doing more of the work

Impressions grew 10%, a slower pace than earlier in the year, while the average price per ad grew 14%. For buyers that means more of Meta's revenue growth is coming from each impression costing more, not from a flood of new inventory.

The practical outcome is the same: auctions are tighter going into Q4 than they were a year ago, and inefficient campaigns get squeezed first.

Q4 guidance and the spending outlook

Meta guided fourth-quarter revenue to $73–76 billion, with roughly a 1% foreign-currency headwind. It raised its 2026 total expense outlook to $175–179 billion to include the legal charge and narrowed 2026 capex to $135–145 billion. For 2027 it gave no revenue range but said it expects strong growth and continued heavy AI investment.

A Q4 guide that size implies a lot of advertiser demand competing for holiday inventory. Combined with the trend in price per ad, it is reasonable to plan for higher CPMs from late November through December rather than hoping last year's costs hold.

What to do with this

Earnings numbers don't change how Ads Manager works tomorrow, but they confirm the direction: Meta is putting its money into AI delivery and creative tools, and pricing power is rising. Plan budgets with headroom, lock in creative volume before peak weeks, and make sure your accounts and spending limits can absorb a jump in daily spend. If an account gets restricted mid-peak, Power Ads can replace agency accounts on its corporate cards with a 24/7 operator, at 4% of each top-up.

What it means for you

  • Ad revenue grew 26% while impressions grew only 10%. Expect each impression to cost more.
  • Q4 guidance of $73–76B signals heavy holiday competition, so budget for higher CPMs.
  • Build creative volume early, because AI delivery rewards fresh assets when auctions tighten.
  • Check spending limits and payment capacity now so scaling isn't blocked in peak weeks.
