Meta Launches Ads Super Burst and Tests First Impression Ads

By the Power Ads operators17 Oct 20262 min read

On October 15 Meta announced a set of brand-advertising products at its Brand Building Summit. The headline items are Ads Super Burst, which reserves a 3 to 24 hour reach window, and First Impression Ads, which put one brand in the first ad slot of the Facebook Feed. Meta also updated Reels Trending Ads and introduced an alpha metric called Aggregated View Time.

Ads Super Burst

Super Burst lets an advertiser book a short, concentrated window of 3 to 24 hours and reach a large share of its audience inside it. Category exclusivity is optional, meaning no competitor in the same category can book that window. Planning happens in Reach Planner, which shows reach and price estimates, and Meta says delivery is guaranteed against those estimates.

Meta reports median test results of a 2.9-point lift in ad recall, a 0.6-point lift in intent and a median reach of 34 million people per flight in the US. The product is moving to general availability in October in phases; Meta did not publish which markets get it first.

First Impression Ads and Reels Trending Ads

First Impression Ads place a brand's ad as the first ad a person sees when opening Feed. It is an early test in the US only, limited to one brand per day.

Reels Trending Ads, which place ads right after popular Reels on Facebook and Instagram, now cover 15 always-on topics including new Home & Garden and Spanish-language categories, plus seasonal lineups. Custom audience exclusions are due later in 2026.

Aggregated View Time

This alpha metric measures the total time a person spends with a brand over a week instead of judging each impression alone. Meta's own research claims five seconds of attention spread across a week drove 32% more offline sales than one continuous five-second view.

What it means for performance buyers

These are reservation-style brand products aimed at big launches and live moments, not direct-response tools. The indirect effect matters more for most media buyers: when large brands lock exclusive bursts and the top Feed slot during peak dates, auction pressure around those windows can rise. Watch CPMs around major launches and sports events in Q4 and keep budgets flexible.

What it means for you

  • Super Burst is booked through Reach Planner with reach and price shown up front.
  • First Impression Ads is a US-only test with one brand per day, so don't plan around it yet.
  • Expect CPM spikes when big brands reserve exclusive windows near Q4 peaks.
  • Reels Trending Ads now has 15 standard topics if you want cheap cultural reach.
