Meta Tests AI-Built Landing Pages in Place of Advertiser Sites

By the Power Ads operators19 Oct 20262 min read

Meta has started testing landing pages that its AI builds from an advertiser's website, according to reporting from Common Thread Collective. For a small share of clicks, people may land on a Meta-hosted page instead of your site. Because the page is not on your domain, the tags you rely on for measurement may never load.

What is being tested

The test is reported to have started rolling out on October 14 for eligible Advantage+ campaigns on Facebook and Instagram, on accounts with AI test features enabled. The generated page summarises your offer and calls to action from content on your website. Common Thread Collective puts the scope at under 5% of impressions in this first phase.

The control sits in ad account settings in Ads Manager, under the toggle for testing new AI generation features, which reportedly covers 11 separate tests. A setting called Landing Page Experience Enhancement also appears in Advantage+ creative options. Meta has not published a newsroom post or help article on this specific test that we could find, so treat details as subject to change.

Why it matters for measurement

Your Meta Pixel, Google Tag Manager, GA4 and session-recording scripts load on your domain. A page hosted by Meta doesn't run them. If a user converts from a generated page, or browses there and never reaches your site, that journey can be missing from GA4 and partly missing from your Pixel data.

The Conversions API only partly fills the gap. Most CAPI setups send events triggered by activity on your own site, so a visit that never reaches your site sends nothing from your server either.

Signs it is affecting you

Common Thread Collective suggests treating a gap above 15% versus your source of truth as worth investigating.

  • Meta-reported conversions or link clicks rise while GA4 sessions from Meta stay flat.
  • A new or wider gap between Ads Manager results and your backend or GA4 numbers that starts after October 14.
  • Days with Meta spend and clicks but almost no landing-page sessions in your analytics.

What to do

Open ad account settings and decide deliberately whether the AI generation tests stay on. If you sell regulated or compliance-sensitive offers, or your landing page carries required disclosures, switching the test off is the safer choice, because you can't review a page the system generates on the fly. For campaigns where you keep it on, compare Ads Manager numbers with your backend weekly through Q4 and make sure your server-side events cover purchases and leads end to end, not just browser-triggered events.

What it means for you

  • A small share of clicks may go to a Meta-hosted page, not your site.
  • Pixel, GA4 and GTM don't load there, so expect gaps in analytics.
  • Check the AI generation test toggle in ad account settings now.
  • Compare Ads Manager with backend numbers weekly through Q4.
